Dilworth Business Series: Realiteach
The latest addition to the Dilworth Business Series is Dr. Corinne Guidi, Owner and Educational Consultant at
Realiteach. Corinne specializes in school placement searches and pre-university gap year planning. Whether you are a Charlotte local interested in learning more about school options or relocating to a new city, Corinne has a wealth of insight and experience to help you find the best fit school for your child or children. Has your child expressed interest in a gap year after high school? Corinne says “Don’t panic – gap years are growing in popularity – even among universities.” Corinne has conducted her own research on the gap year and for five years has been an active member of the Gap Year Association research committee. She has seen first-hand the rich data that supports the practice of taking a gap year before college. When working with gap year students, she draws on her abundant familiarity of gap year programs and industry experience and loves helping students discover meaningful gap year experiences that will stay with them throughout their lives.
Corinne offers various levels of service in packages or an hourly rate so that she can cater to each client’s budget and needs. Check out our Q&A below and follow @realiteach on Instagram for all things education in Charlotte!
When did you start Realiteach? After nearly a decade as a teacher, I was inspired to work in a space where students had an opportunity to make connections between the classroom and the real world – and that’s how Realiteach began. I started providing education consulting services in Charlotte in 2015.
What do you love about the Dilworth Neighborhood? There’s so much to love about Dilworth, but I love the ability to walk to area businesses, the tree lined streets, and especially riding my bike to Freedom Park. I love the frequent “what a small world” moments when we realize that there are just a couple degrees of separation between us and another acquaintance. After living here 18 years, that happens frequently!
What has been your most rewarding experience with Dilworth clients? The most rewarding thing is the sense of community and belonging we share as fellow residents. Whether I am searching for opportunities for local students or seeking first-hand information about area schools, the community is my number one resource and it never ceases to amaze me how everyone has such a willingness to contribute to the educational growth of young adults in our community.
Where is your go-to lunch or dinner spot? That depends on the day but you can almost always find me at Not Just Coffee!
What sets you apart from other local businesses? Every consultant has strengths in certain areas. There’s no doubt that my background fuels my passion for this work. My parents were expats, so I particularly love working with expatriate families who are relocating to Charlotte and navigating not only a new place, but also a different educational system. I speak French and Spanish fluently. Every family is unique and therefore, every solution is unique. I not only focus on the goals of each case, but love helping families settle in to our wonderful city by offering my insight and tips on favorite places and things to do.
Everything I do in my life and in my work revolves around the eight dimensions of wellness: emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual wellness. I use a holistic approach when working with my clients and always embrace the organic nature of the process. Whether I am mentoring students or working with parents, I build a relationship that is open, respectful, and professional.
What else would you like the community to know? I am always available for a free, 30-min call about any educational decisions they are considering – no strings attached – I am always happy to give guidance to students and families in any way, no matter how big or small.
